Santa Cruz Skateboard è una linea della NHS inc. Azienda fondata nel 1973 in una piccola cittadina della California, Santa Cruz per l’appunto. Si chiamano Richard Novak, Doug Haut, and Jay Shuirman i tra soci che decidono di imbarcarsi in questa avventura nel momento in cui lo skate biz è ai primordi. Santa Cruz diventa famosa, per lo stile iconico delle sue grafiche, che traevano ispirazione dai primi graffiti e dai puppet. Tra le più famose, bisogna ricordare la grafica Screaming Hand, disegnata da Jim Phillips, che è diventata rappresentativa per tutto il mondo dello skate di quegli anni.
